Associate Solicitor
Edward Morton at K J Smith is superb and was incredibly understanding and helpful throughout my recent divorce. His detailed knowledge of the law and thorough understanding of the intricacies of my own case allowed him to calmly guide me through an emotional process with minimum fuss. His considered advice on the Court's likely judgements proved uncannily accurate. Money well spent.
Ed is an Associate Solicitor and the Head of our Newbury office. He has worked in boutique Family Law firms, both in the City and elsewhere, since he qualified in 2017.
Ed deals with all aspects of family law including matrimonial issues, matters with children, and cohabitation disputes.
One of Ed’s areas of expertise is representing clients who have difficult and combative spouses. In these scenarios, the divorce proceedings can be acrimonious, which quickly becomes costly, Ed’s diplomacy and pragmatism smooths the path to a more amicable settlement. With robust yet practical communication, he keeps matters on track, and costs under control.
Ed has a particular specialism in obtaining Special Guardianships, which place a child or young person in long-term care with someone other than their parents. He also has a growing specialism n cohabitation matters.
Alongside his day-to-day legal work, Ed manages our Newbury office. As part of that role he supports and trains junior colleagues in legal and soft skills. He is an emerging leader of the business and supports his colleagues to succeed in their careers.
Ed is based at our Newbury office.
